UV Disinfection

UV Disinfection

UV light is indeed a widely used method for water purification. Ultraviolet (UV) radiation can effectively disinfect water by inactivating various harmful microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and parasites. UV light disrupts the DNA or RNA of these microorganisms, rendering them unable to reproduce and causing their demise. It is a chemical-free process and doesn't introduce any residual taste or odor to the water. However, it's important to note that UV light does not remove other contaminants like chemicals or heavy metals. Therefore, it is often used in conjunction with other water treatment methods to ensure comprehensive purification.

What Water for Life also offers you is pre-filtration to protect the UV light from dirt and scale and post treatment to treat other contaminants.

Predominantly used to protect well water, UV Light is increasingly used to protect families against 5 strains of virus, giardia, and cryptosporidium cysts, and to protect against bacteria, such as salmonella and anthrax.

Certain Nano filters, such as the non electric Enpress Pioneer may also be used in many city water applications, or in concert with UV Light for food and beverage process or product water applications.
